Lo si ami o lo si odi, piaccia o meno, Skrillex è una delle figure più importanti della musica contemporanea. Il 2012 è stato l’anno dell’esplosione commerciale del dubstep, del suo sdoganamento presso il grande pubblico, anche se in Italia è una materia ancora alquanto sconosciuta alle orecchie dei più.
Negli ultimi tempi ormai si sono messi tutti a fare dubstep. Ma tutti tutti: dai Muse a Justin Bieber, da Taylor Swift ai Negramaro, dai Korn a Rihanna. Che poi la musica dubstep offre anche ben altri tipi di sonorità, capitanata sul lato più alternative da Burial, però la dubstep nel senso più facile e commerciale del termine è quella che corrisponde al sound di Skrillex. C’è poco da fare, è lui quello ha sdoganato il genere, seppure nella sua accezione più club-oriented e tamarra. Il tutto senza aver ancora mai realizzato un album vero e proprio, ma solo una serie di EP e di collaborazioni con artisti vari, dalla sua girlfriend Ellie Goulding a uno a caso dei figli di Bob Marley ad addirittura i Doors. O quel che ne è rimasto, dei Doors. Perché ormai tutti fanno dubstep, con buona pace dello spirito di Jim Morrison (che tanto non è morto e starà ballando la musica di Skrillex in qualche locale di Parigi).
E il video perfetto per un Natale in stile dubstep…
